STAR Treatment = STAR Results
STAR Physical & Occupational Therapy (Sports Therapy And Rehabilitation) on East 56th Street in NYC is a nationally recognized, premier practice that opened in 1999 and provides patients with the highest quality care. The physical and occupational therapists at STAR are among the best in their field, having both extensive clinical knowledge and experience, thereby providing patients with exceptional treatment. STAR’s hands on therapists are among the select few in NYC to carry Board Certifications in Sports, Orthopedics and Hand Therapy. We have ART (Active Release Technique) and TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Certified Therapists as well as Certified Manual Therapists, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists and McKenzie Trained Therapists. STAR's Credentialed Advanced Hip Clinicians have created many of the protocols used in Hip Preservation Rehabilitation today.
STAR’s groundbreaking facility is literally state of the art. Our cutting edge equipment sets STAR apart from other practices in NYC and enables us to offer our patients the most advanced care, including immediately post surgery. Our AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill, with technology developed by NASA, allows patients to begin walking and running well in advance as it “unweights” you while maintaining normal body mechanics. Our Biodex Neuromuscular Evaluator gives us the ability to measure your strength and to see on-screen and via computer printout areas of deficiency and subsequent improvements. This information is shared with your physician to help guide your safe and complete return to activity/sport. TRX suspension core strength training may be incorporated along with kinesio taping depending on your personal needs. Customized foot orthotics and wrist/hand braces can be designed on-site.
STAR’s experience includes affiliations with some of the country's best physicians and hospitals, and we have cared for Olympians and numerous professional athletes: NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, MLL, Tennis and Dance. Mike Fox is a Team Physical Therapist for the USA Eagles Men's National Rugby Team as well as the NY Athletic Club's National Championship Rugby Team. All STAR therapists are provided funding annually for continuing education, ensuring we are versed in the latest treatment techniques while being guided by our vast experience. Additionally, weekly team meetings enable therapists to share their knowledge and specializations so we dynamically learn from each other.
